In my recent article about creating a veggie focused smoothie bowl, I touched upon my love for Superfoods and Adaptogens. Hence, I thought it is about time to dive deeper into the topic.
What is a superfood?
Before we talk about my newest product obsession, I thought I should start with explaining the term Superfood. A Superfood is simply a basic food that contains more nutrients per serving than any other food one consumes on a daily basis. Hence, a Superfood can also be blueberries and avocado which both are pretty nutrient dense. In the end, I call Superfoods the powders that I like to consume on a daily basis that consist of mushrooms, roots, fruits, and Adaptogens that are dried and grounded to deliver a high amount of nutrients.
What are Adaptogens?
Well, now I dropped the second foreign term. Therefore, let me explain what Adaptogens are. Adaptogens have actually been around for hundreds of years. Surely, they have gained in popularity over the past years. Adaptogens belong into the more holistic realm of healing and enhancing the body.
Adaptogens are powders consisting of a specific group of healing plants which enhance bodily function and literally adapt to your body’s needs. The word Adaptogen stems from the word ‘adaptare’ which is Latin and means ‘to adjust’. Therefore, the name describes exactly that. The Adaptogens are able to adjust your body to different stressors in your life. There are different Adaptogens for varying purposes. However, most of them overlap slightly in their treatment purpose. Finally, they serve your body exactly in the way it needs at the given point in time.
In the ends, Adaptogens serve as a natural way to support your health. However, one still has to take them with caution and see how the body reacts on the different powders. You might also want to consult your holistic doctor before starting to add Adaptogens to your diet.
Coco Beauty Sparkle
Now that we’ve cleared up these terms, I want to introduce you to a potion that I fell in love with, consisting of a variety of Adaptogens, serving the purpose of enhancing your well-being, your beauty and your metabolism. The potion is called Coco Beauty Sparkle and is produced by the German company Ylumi. All the potions offered by Ylumi are formulated in tune with the practices of Chinese Medicine.
The Adaptogens working their magic in the Coco Beauty Sparkle are Cordyceps, Schisandra, Ashwagandha, Ginseng, Camu-Camu and Reishi. If you want to know more about each individual Adaptogen, let me know and I’ll write another article about it. Furthermore, the potion contains added Vitamin A for immune function, Vitamin C for naturally building collagen in the body and Vitamin B12 to enhance the basic energy metabolism. Selen is there to protect the cells from oxidative stress and enhances hair and nails.
Obviously, the products by Ylumi are formulated without any additives and are naturally free from animal products, lactose, gluten, added sugars, preservatives and food dyes.
Lastly, we need to talk about the taste of this potion. Usually, if you think about all these Adaptogens you might guess, you would end up drinking an earthy tasting potion. However, the Coco Beauty Sparkle is unlike any other basic potion and tastes like the spices that are added to the powder mix. Therefore, you are able to create dishes and beverages with hints of coconut, cardamom and cinnamon. Well, my favourite way to enjoy the powder mix is by adding it to an almond milk latte. Eager to try the potion and feel it working its magic in your body? If you’ve tried it already, let me know your favourite way to enjoy the Coco Beauty Sparkle. I am interested in trying out new recipes.
