Just when I wanted to start typing the first words onto this page, Instagram opened for inspiration, I scrolled to see that today is world mental health day. A coincidence? I don’t think so. What is this day about, you might ask
So sensitive? So what? How fitting it is, that just last week Mackenzie and I talked about navigating life as a highly sensitive person on Once Around The World. This week’s episode basically followed a similar trajectory as being so sensitive is oh so present in my life these days.
Have you ever felt guilty, a burden, too delicate or sensitive? It is fine to feel that way. It might be for so many reasons or none in particular. For me, it is juggling the life I love and having the most sensitive system. Honestly, it is tough sometimes. It certainly is these days. There are the most rewarding moments but there are also the most challenging ones where I am on my own and realise how badly my body requires more care in order for me to feel healthy and comfortable – to feel my very self.
I feel best in my body when I am balanced. When I am rested, but worked… taken care of, but indulged. When you find moderation, there is stillness.– Mia Kang
What I work towards is being easy on myself. It is okay to feel this way – to be sensitive. It is okay and very vital to confide in people who you love and trust. They will try to understand. They might even feel similar to you.
Just remember, you are a beautiful human and you so deserve to be happy and healthy. We all do.
